SPECIALIZED HIGH-ACCURACY CONTROLLERS FOR HEAT TREATING PROCESSES

 

PROTHERM 50

  • A compact unit, which calculates and controls dew point, oxygen partial pressure, temperature, and nitriding or carbon potential.

  • An oxygen probe, a Lambda probe or a CO2 analyzer is used for sensing and measuring the parameters to be calculated by the Protherm 50.

  • The integrated CANbus, the optional Profibus DP or Mod/J bus interfaces allow the device to be attached to any common PLC controller. The controller is configurable via a service interface.

PROTHERM 400

An embedded programmable controller, designed to monitor, control and record heat treatment processes running in batch furnaces. Used in new furnaces as well as for refurbishing or updating existing systems. Ideal for nitriding, nitrocarburizing, carburizing, carbonitriding, hardening, tempering and vacuum furnaces.
 


 

Main Features:

  • Can hold up to 12 PID automatic control-loops to regulate process parameters such as temperature, furnace pressure as well as atmosphere parameters (e.g.: carbon potential, nitriding potential and oxygen potential—depending on the treatment type)
     

  • Soft PID controllers within the device can be set-up in a cascade
     

  • Load oriented treatments: real-time monitoring of jobs at all stages of the process
     

  • All process parameters can be configured with alarm limits
     

  • An optional online diffusion calculation (Protherm 400 Diff) provides the capability to control the process using the required target values (e.g.: case depth, surface carbon content)
     

  • Process variables can be viewed and recorded with an integrated paperless chart recorder
     

  • Up to 50 treatments can be created, modified and controlled
     

  • Available in various languages

UNIVERSAL PROGRAMMABLE CONTROLLERS FOR HEAT TREATMENT

 

PROTHERM 500 AND 600

  • Designed to monitor, control, record and archive heat treatment processes running in a furnace or simultaneously in  multiple chambers.

  • They are configurable for various types of batch and continuous furnaces.

  • Installations are done on new or refurbished furnaces and are used for updating existing systems.

Main Features:

  • Visual display of the connected furnace, chambers, different configured components (e.g.: furnace door, recirculation turbines, etc.) and the loads

  • Can hold up to 32 PID control-loops to regulate configured process parameters such as temperature, furnace pressure as well as atmosphere parameters (e.g.: carbon potential, nitriding potential and oxygen potential)

  • Load oriented treatments: real-time monitoring of jobs at all stages of the process and all chambers of the furnace

  • All process parameters can be configured with alarm limits

  • Notification and processing of alarms

  • An online diffusion calculation provides the capability to control the process using the required target values (e.g.: case depth, surface carbon content)

  • Process variables can be viewed and recorded with chart recorders

  • Log files in ASCII format can be downloaded to a remote computer for archiving

  • Up to 99 treatments and templates can be created and modified
